Its been a year since I stopped using acrylics but although my nails grow like a weed they tear and split. Aug 31 2011 3 i am an extreme nail biter much to my own embaressment but i do manage to fit tips and do. Im sure there are products gels etc out there that are less damaging to the natural nail than acrylics and the like but in my experience ANY unnatural layer that smothers the nail bed WILL cause.

I didnt want Cora to learn to bite from me the same way I learned from my mom. They are fiddly to do but well worth it xxx. Acrylic nails helped me stop picking and biting my cuticles.
